I beg to differ...
I think I was a considerably good boyfriend to my girl.... We dated 2 years and I completely abandonned my friends (bad idea) for her to spend every day of my life with her. I dont blame her for that, it was my mistake, however, I then bought her an engagement ring, wrote her a song (and proposed at the songs end) and she accepted. I thought everything was working fine.
But then, I tell her that I really miss my friends and want to spend time with them. She accepts it when I say it to her and I start spending about 2 days a week with them, and 5 with her. About a month later she gets off from work on a day that I had planned to spend with my friends and calls me wondering why I would spend my day with my friends when I should spend it with her. I try and explain to her that I had this planned and my friends mean a lot to me, but I will go over to her house if she wants me to. She then sais "No. Just spend your time with your friends! You like them more than me anyway!!"
And then it occurred to me... I had spent 7 years with my friends and not one of those 7 did they ever make me decide "Them or me". So I decided that Jenny was not right for me.
The day after we broke up I settled things with her. She wanted to keep our 900 dollar engagement ring, and so I let her. She also wanted me to pay 250 dollars to have my cell phone (which we had both got under her mom's account at cingular) turned off. Although I didn't have the money to do this, I didnt want any more hard feelings to arise than need be, so I agreed to pay that as well.. I was scared to call and talk to her mom, however because I was afraid that she would yell at me or something, so my mom called down there to get some information on how I would close the account at cingular.
Her mom proceeded to call my mom names and tell my parents that "They never liked Jenny anyway" (which was untrue and almost made my dad cry. He really thought the world of Jenny).
I dont claim to be the best guy in the world, but I feel that I was a half-way decent one...
maybe I am just niave though....

aww i'm so sorry for all that!! but i'm really glad you saw what was right for you and took your decisions... even though it hurt jenna and probably her parents, and even yourself a bit....
you see, I'm awful at doing that.
my boyfriend gave me a commitment ring as well almost a year ago, but we only see each other at weekend because he trains so much (triathlon too, but he trains wayyy to much).. And i feel so alone during the whole week you know?!? We never do things together, so we don't have so much in common anymore, he never introduces me to his teammates or anything.. It hurts me cause his brother introduced his girl to the whole team and they always hang out together...
Plus, sometimes he's really sweet to me and all that but sometimes when he doesn't train so well he gets so distant..... and cold. Another thing is that he almost never includes me in his future plans, even like 2 months from now :frown: that hurts too.
And i can't go out so much with my friends, 1st because i kinda left them too and 2nd because the only opportunity to see them is during the weekend, which i always spend with my boyfriend..
So i dunno if I'm just a passtime right now or if he still loves me as much as he used to.. and i dunno what to say to him i suck at it!!!

I am no love advisor but the best advice I could give ya is this...
Dont ever settle for anything... If you dont think that he is the right one for you, in ANY way, dont put yourself through hell....
Also, if you dont take risks or try real hard at something you want desperately you have less of a chance of getting it.
In other words, for your paticular instance, I would say first, Dont be afraid to say anything to him. This is your FUTURE, the rest of your life, we are talking about here and you shouldnt feel weird or avoid a confrontation if you are not okay with everything. Secondly, make sure that you really like him. I know marriage might be far away in your mind but, what is the point in having someone who you don't plan on spending the rest of your life with?
I dunno if that helps any or not... just kinda my philosophy.

I think I can see your point... and that's what some people have been telling me as well. i really admire people who can do that you know, who aren't afraid to say anything or to expose their feelings... it's so hard for me!!! i still have to get used to doing that!!
I really like him but his training and his sport are sooo everything to him and it kinda makes me lose interest in staying together with him for some more time.... i'm gonna have a conversation with him about all this, we really need to talk.. cause in 1 year and a half i haven't expressed my feelings properly and i think it might be about time...
thanks so much for your advice zendor... lol it was pretty inspiring for someone who's no love advisorr

Ok... strange we both be part o'tha common wealth mate... aw well
Corndogs as has been mentioned are a sausage or hotdog that is stuck on a stick, dipped in batter, (being a corn based batter, commonly cornbread) then deep fried.
Some eat it as is, off the stick, others again baste it in ketchup (tomato sauce for some americans) and mustard.
It is most usually found in fair ground foods, such as the Calgary Stampede fair grounds (boasted as the greatest outdoor showing of tortured animals and vomitous crowds)
